Vanpool Transit Telework Bicycle Walk

How do I CARPOOL?

You carpool when you choose to ride with at least one other person between a common origin and destination. You can carpool with co-workers, or ride with others who work nearby. Students and friends can also carpool. Usually, carpool partners rotate driving responsibilities, but sometimes, one person is the primary driver.

How can San Benito County Rideshare help?
San Benito County Rideshare is your first resource for carpool information. We work with RIDES for Bay Area Commuters to find carpool partners for you.

Using a ridematch database, we'll search for other carpool partners in San Benito County who match your carpool needs. If we find a good match, we will give you their information so you can make carpool arrangements. If we can't find a good match, we'll keep your name until we find someone who matches your needs.

What are the advantages of carpooling?
It’s flexible. How often you carpool is up to you.

It reduces stress. Read, listen to music or relax when you’re not driving.

It’s good for the environment. Driving alone degrades air quality, land and water resources.

It saves time and money. Carpooling just once a week can save you a lot of money because you share the costs with other people. And if there’s a carpool lane, the trip may even take less time.

It prolongs the life of your vehicle. You put fewer miles on your own car when you share driving responsibilities.

You can meet new people.

It reduces traffic. When three people carpool, there are two fewer cars on the road.
